HelpMain PageTo use the interninmichigan site, you need to create a profile. You are one of two audiences at interninmichigan, a person looking for an internship, such as a student, or a person who has an internship they would like filled, such as an employer. You may not be completely committed to either course of action yet, but that's ok. You can learn lots here, you can see what is going on, and you can get your feet wet before diving in. For those already in the workforce:Just create a profile by clicking on the blue 'Post Internship' tab to the right of the video window. As a professional in the workforce, you might be interested in some college level talent that is currently attending one of Michigan's fine schools. For those currently in or recently graduated from school: Create your profile by clicking on the green 'Post Profile' tab located next to the blue tab & the video window. All we need is an email address and a password, and you are ready to start exploring! Employer Profile PageStart with the basics about your company. A company name and a very high level description, maybe something you already use in advertising or employee materials. As an employer, you need to have one primary contact for internship opportunity communications so that we can get you the information you need when you need it for any internships you make available on the site. If your company is large with multiple locations, you always have the option of identifying yourself as the key contact for your location, even it someone else is the key contact for your company in a different location. The opportunities you create will be tied to you, and any interns searching will find you as their point of contact for your entries, while they will find your co-worker at the alternative location if they find an opportunity entered by her. Some fields are mandatory and some are optional. If the field isn't mandatory, you can always complete it later. The more information you complete, the better the system will do at matching your opportunities to students looking for internships. We ask our employers for Tax ID because colleges we work with have suggested that we take steps to protect students from unwanted offers. While we have not made this field mandatory, it helps us to validate you as a legitimate employer, and is one more check in your favor. At the bottom of this page is a password and confirm password field. If you forget your password at some point in the future, the home page will allow you to request a new password. When you do, it will send an email to you with the new password, which is automatically generated and not easy to remember. You can paste it into the login, then come here and change it back to something easier for you to remember. Internships PageYou can enter as many internship opportunities as you want to make available to our Michigan students. Click the link at the top of the page that says, 'click here to create a new internship.'This internship summary page provides you with a listing of all the opportunities that you have in the system. The list will also show when the position expires, as well as how many matches you have for the position. Clicking on the matches link at the far right of the internship line will take you to a detailed list of those matches for your opportunity, sorted by how closely they match your description of the critical factors of the job. Click on the job title link of the listing to see the detail of the job listing, to update the dates, or make other edits. Each job has several unique characteristics to it, but it will save you the time of having to repeat your company profile information, which will be added for you to the offer. Each offer has a start and end date. These jobs expire, and when they do, we will send you, the key contact, a reminder asking you if you have filled the position, if you need to extend the date, or if the position is no longer needed. Search Page(s)The search page provides another means of looking for candidates for an internship at your firm. Multiple searches can be created and saved under different names to be reused later as student population in the system changes. For best results, start with only the criteria you deem most important. If you find that too many candidates are matching, you can easily increase the specificity of your search to get to a manageable level of candidates.Candidate search page 1 contains a job title box that can be added to with the button at the bottom right of the box. Multiple entries can be selected. Next to the job title box on the right is a drop down box for Industry. Below that are radio buttons to indicate the importance of citizenship and work key use. None of these fields are mandatory. |
